Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 Pro is expected to bring a major shift in storage options and that could mean a higher price tag for buyers in India. A new leak suggests Apple will increase the base storage variant, pushing the price higher compared to the iPhone 16 Pro.
iPhone 17 Pro Could Start at 256GB Storage
According to a report shared by Chinese tipster Instant Digital on Weibo, the iPhone 17 Pro will no longer start at 128GB. Instead, the new Pro model is tipped to launch with 256GB as the base storage option.
This change will reportedly come with a $50 price hike compared to the iPhone 16 Pro. That means the global price of the iPhone 17 Pro could start at $1,049 (around ₹91,735).
iPhone 17 Pro Price in India: What to Expect
For context, the iPhone 16 Pro launched at $999 (₹1,19,900 in India) for the 128GB model, while the 256GB version cost $1,199 (₹1,29,900).
If Apple follows the same conversion pattern this year, the iPhone 17 Pro price in India could start at around ₹1,25,000 for the 256GB variant. While this is a hike in terms of overall pricing, buyers would get double the base storage compared to last year’s Pro model.
iPhone 17 Launch Date Speculation
Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 17 series on September 9, 2025, according to several leaks. A supposed event invite also surfaced on X (formerly Twitter). However, industry experts are skeptical, as Apple usually sends out official invites only two weeks before launch.
If the rumours are true, the September event will also feature the Apple Watch Series 11 alongside the new iPhone 17 lineup.
Bottom Line
If leaks hold true, the iPhone 17 Pro could become Apple’s first Pro model to start with 256GB storage by default, making it more expensive but offering better value in storage capacity. With the Indian price expected to touch around ₹1.25 lakh, Apple fans may want to start planning their upgrades early.
