Schools in Delhi-NCR May Remain Closed on September 4
As heavy rains lash Delhi-NCR, schools in the region are expected to remain closed on September 4, 2025. While no official notification has been issued yet, parents and guardians have been advised to stay alert and check for updates from school authorities.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast scattered heavy showers across Delhi and nearby areas, continuing the monsoon trend of early September. In Noida and Ghaziabad, some schools had already declared closures today due to waterlogging and safety concerns.
Online Classes Expected in Delhi Schools
Considering the weather conditions, schools in Delhi may switch to online classes to ensure the safety of students. Officials have urged parents to prepare for digital lessons in case in-person classes are suspended.
Flood Alert: Yamuna Crosses Danger Mark
The situation worsened on Tuesday as the Yamuna river crossed the danger mark, reaching 206.03 metres at Delhi’s Old Railway Bridge (ORB). Authorities immediately shut the bridge to traffic after the water level hit a record high, raising fresh flood concerns across the capital.
Punjab Shuts Schools, Colleges Till September 7
Meanwhile, neighbouring Punjab has ordered the closure of all schools, colleges, universities, and polytechnics until September 7, 2025 due to worsening flood conditions.
State Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains confirmed the decision on X, citing directives from Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann:
“As directed by CM Punjab Bhagwant Singh Mann, in view of the flood situation, all Government/Aided/Recognised & Private Schools, Colleges, Universities & Polytechnics across Punjab will remain closed till 7th Sept 2025. Everyone is requested to strictly follow the administration’s guidelines.”
Authorities Urge Caution
Officials across Delhi-NCR and Punjab have advised residents to remain vigilant, avoid non-essential travel, and adhere to safety guidelines amid the heavy rainfall and rising river levels.
