Unveiling the Future: Apple’s Game-Changing iPad Pro Redesign for 2024

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says that Apple is getting ready to release a new iPad Pro in 2024. The aim is to make the tablet market more exciting again. This update to the iPad Pro is the biggest change in five years.

The tablet market, including Apple’s iPad lineup, is facing challenges. Sales have been declining, with the most recent quarter experiencing a 17% drop in unit shipments. These challenges can be attributed to the surge in demand driven by the pandemic, as well as consumers choosing to hold onto their functional older tablets or switching to larger smartphones instead.

Apple’s Role in the Market Decline Apple’s own decisions have also played a part in this situation. The updates to the iPad line have been relatively minor, and the product lineup itself has become convoluted with numerous models and generations.

The improvements to Apple’s Mac lineup have made them more resilient and cost-efficient, thereby reducing the necessity for iPads in certain scenarios. Furthermore, the functionality of iPad software lacks the depth found in macOS.

Despite these challenges, Apple continues to dominate the market, accounting for 37% of tablet shipments in the last quarter. While its sales are declining, they still outperform most of its competitors. Xiaomi experienced growth as well, even though on a smaller scale compared to Apple.

Looking Ahead to the iPad Pro Transformation As indicated by Mark Gurman, the upcoming iPad Pro iterations, codenamed J717, J718, J720, and J721, will feature the state-of-the-art M3 chip and OLED displays similar to those used in iPhones since 2017. These displays offer heightened clarity, brightness, and color precision.

The upcoming improved iPad Pro could turn things around. It’s set to come out next year and will have the M3 chip and OLED displays. This means the screen will look clearer, brighter, and show colors more accurately.

Available in both 11-inch and 13-inch sizes, the larger model will showcase a redesigned Magic Keyboard with an expanded trackpad, reminiscent of a laptop experience.

A Timeline for the Debut of the New iPad Pro However, these new models will not be unveiled during Apple’s upcoming major event, which will focus on the iPhone and Apple Watch. The unveiling of the iPad Pro is projected for spring or early summer. Prior to this, there might be minor updates for other tablets, according to insights from Mark Gurman.
