Mumbai is reeling under heavy rains, and the impact has now reached air travel. With waterlogging and traffic congestion across the city, airlines including Air India, IndiGo, SpiceJet, and Akasa Air have issued travel advisories, warning passengers of possible delays and urging them to allow extra time for airport transfers.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded a red alert for Mumbai, forecasting extremely heavy rainfall in several parts of the city. As operations take a hit, airlines are asking flyers to keep a close watch on their flight status.

IndiGo Warns of “Operational Challenges”

IndiGo took to X (formerly Twitter) to alert travelers about disruptions.
“With Mumbai drenched in heavy showers, several routes to the airport are witnessing waterlogging and sluggish traffic. This has, in turn, led to operational challenges, with delays in both departures and arrivals,” the airline wrote.

IndiGo added that its teams are working to minimize the disruptions: “Your safety, comfort, and peace of mind remain our priority, and we deeply value your patience and understanding.”

Air India Urges Flyers to Check Flight Status

Air India issued a travel advisory for Mumbai, saying persistent rain could affect flight schedules. The airline requested passengers to check their flight status online before leaving for the airport and to plan for extra travel time.

SpiceJet Cautions About Delays in Departures and Arrivals

SpiceJet echoed similar concerns, noting that bad weather in Mumbai could affect both arrivals and departures, including connecting flights. The airline urged passengers to track live updates of their bookings.

Akasa Air Flags Weather Disruptions in Multiple Cities

Akasa Air highlighted that it’s not just Mumbai but also Hyderabad, Goa, Pune, and Guwahati experiencing weather-related challenges. The airline advised flyers to leave well in advance, adding: “To ensure a seamless travel experience, we request you to plan for additional travel time to reach the airport and check your flight status.”

What Travelers Should Do

With heavy rains expected to continue, airlines are unanimous: passengers should leave early, track flight status regularly, and prepare for delays to avoid last-minute stress.
